Wound Up Wounds

Jan 06 through jan 12

You can enhance your understanding by applying the Houses these signs and Planets are falling into in your Natal Chart. I am happy to help you with figuring that out, at no cost to you— just shoot me an email!!

I have added the House Significations Wheel at the bottom to aid in checking your relevant Houses. If you know your Rising Sign, make that the First House (1) and then each subsequent sign takes the next House. Cancer Rising has Cancer 1st House, Leo 2nd House, Virgo 3rd House and so on.

Mars Enters Cancer: Right at the beginning of this week, January 6th, Mars will retrograde back into Cancer. This diminishes the ease to which we can sublimate our energy. Mars goes under the whims of the fast moving and emotional Moon; ruler of the sign Cancer.

This stirs up home life, the personal emotional center, and our familial bonds. This inner archetype of the Mama Bear has more fury and willpower, so we experience more volatility around the defense of the familial and familiar— that which we are personally attached to. There is a chance to reconnect to an old way of exerting our energy; possibly experiencing nostalgia. Maybe we revisit an old sport, exercise method, or an old feud. In general, we will continue to reconsider something like activity, goals, and self-assertion.

In the Retrograde phase, whatever goals and short-term directionality we’ve been taking has gone into review. This review started in our Leo House, and transitioned into the Cancer House. Look to those Houses to see where the energy has transitioned.

Mars Opposition Pluto: This aspect first perfected November 3rd 2024. This aspect will perfect two more times. January 3rd during Mars’ retrogradation and April 26, 2025 after Mars goes Direct again. So these dates will tell a story. One of facing power dynamics and self-preservation instincts. We have entered a new form of assertion and willpower in the greater energy system with Pluto entering Aquarius for the next 19 years.

Plutonian matters are often hard to recognize. The point is that they are swept under the rug or taboo. How do you make long-term decisions that preserve your identity and sense of safety? What events have happened to you that altered your psychology and genetics? How do you play mind games or be manipulative? Where does sexuality and other deeper hidden desires direct you? With Mars entering Leo our pride can better protect our emotional sensitivity and keep us focused on the creative process. However, Mars will re-enter Cancer on January 6th, 2025 and lose a tremendous amount of power—though we also lose energy. How does/can your independence help keep you excitable and confident? Given the Mars retrograde we are reconsidering the direction, use, and preservation of our goals and energy.

Saturn Square Jupiter: The expansion in our Gemini house contests with the solidifying of our Pisces house. On December 21, 2020 we had the Saturn Jupiter conjunction. This Square is the First Quarter Phase of this planetary alignment. The sprouting of seeds started in Dec 2020 is followed up with problem solving now. If you were gardening it would be like in July when you are at steps like ensuring the seedlings stand to survive to harvest; maintaining Tomato trestle structures or looking for early signs of powdery mildew.  We had the first square on August 19th, 2024, when Jupiter moved through Gemini. In Jupiter's Retrogradation, we saw this aspect perfect on December 24th, 2024. We will see the final Saturn Square Jupiter on June 15th, 2025.

As this week progresses Mercury will enter Capricorn, and as the ruler of Gemini, Mercury’s movement will shift the nature of Jupiter in Gemini. The expansion of our Gemini house who’s nature is objective and carefree will have to actualize itself within the more pragmatic approach of Capricorn. Capricorn energy is hard to initiate without feeling as though the effort is worthwhile and necessary. There is a frugality in thinking of processing. I will continue on Mercury in Capricorn later in this report.

On the Transit: Reflect on the relationship between your growth and your longevity. Growth demands we enter into novel arenas, and longevity demands will reinforce existing arenas. How are these two parts of life showing conflict? How do they require problem solving and reconciliation? Again, this should be relevant to things that began in December 2020.

The Gemini house is expressed as the teacher/student, the speaker/listener; through communication, channeling, and learning. It is objective, and we are expanding here. We are exploring different perspectives with an objective view. We are allowing ourselves to be aware we are wearing a mask. Check the relevant [Gemini] house. The Pisces House is expressed as a healer/victim/sick or the artist/artistic observer. The Pisces expression can require solitude, spirituality, or shows signs of escapism or substance use. This Pisces House is experiencing solidification, obstacles, and structure. Check that house as well.

How are responsibilities to our emotional healing causing delays or obstructions ? Or is channeled artistic expression conflicting with our search for new knowledge and experience through communication and/or learning? As Jupiter rules Pisces what we are discovering is how adopting specific attitudes toward growth despite their can help us resist falling into the need to escape life’s realities. We create our own reality, so why should we have to escape?

Mercury Square Neptune: This aspect peaks the morning of Monday, January 6th. The mind is compelled to consider illusions and the principle of universal love. A good example of this are the frustrations of propaganda. Propaganda can compel us to consider whether our values are good. Be wary of vague promises/claims and appeals to your emotions, but be mindful of your own beliefs. Maybe you do need to be challenged, maybe tricks are being played. This can also look more medical/physiological with something like allergies being triggered. Less about insidious ideas, but insidious atmosphere in general.

Mercury Enters Capricorn: From the early morning of January 8th till the night of January 27th the planet of the thinking mind, swiftness, logic, and processing will enter the sign of the Sea-Goat. We will spend time with an objective view of our Capricorn house. The overall thinking and processing factor will become more pragmatic. Capricorn consciousness is stimulated by a sense of duty with an inclination for longevity. We will initiate more practical structure to our daily routines and mental processing. The mind may become more realistic and possibly pessimistic. Take a good look at the longevity of your everything thinking and routines. Embrace an objective view to the structure of your life. The problem here is trying to resist pessimism and you can do that by embracing that which you can refine through your dedicated efforts. It’s all about loving each other; can you be objective about the effectiveness of lovingness? What might that mean for your everyday thinking and doing?

Venus conjunct Saturn: As this week progresses this aspect will gain in strength, peaking early on January 19th. Regarding the Venus-Saturn cycle, we are coming to a close, deep into the Dark Moon phase, moving toward a New Moon.

The longevity of our relationships. The serious and practical decisions regard our aesthetic choices. Limits and structures around joy and comfort. Relationships and the function of relating are having a serious check in and renewal which will step into that newness upon the exact conjunction on the 19th. We may clean out our closets metaphorically and literally. Getting rid of clothes or reassessing our styles with a pragmatic eye. We should take stock of the body and any disharmony being experienced. There could be a health issue that comes up for some and touching base with your inner homeostasis will be good in the renewal. There will also be some limiting, obstructing, or overall problems around finances and assets.

This all occurs in the Pisces House, so look to that area to assess what basis these possibilities will revolve around. Humanity, healing, escapism, spirituality, magick, universal love, creativity, and the unseen all become themes in which these events can actualize themselves.

*The date ranges reflect the Moon being a majority in the given sign during a 5am-11:59pm EST range. Moon Signs naturally set each other up for a successful procession through life's subtle developments. The Moon functions as a catalyst and distributor of the energies from the other Celestial bodies.

Moon in Aries - Jan 6-7: These Moons create more intensity with a sense of urgency in the emotional center. The later part of these days sees the Moon Square Mars creating a trigger for the Mars in Cancer situation. So be wary of the indications from that paragraph to come up early or for the situation to follow with an event during the Moon in Cancer days at the end of the week.

Moon in Taurus - Jan 7-9: Following the urgency of Moon in Aries, we have secured and now we protect and/or enjoy. These Moons seek more pleasure. care, and indulgence. During this Saturn in Pisces period, these Moon can cause us to fall into habits we may be trying to avoid and it can be good to plan to give yourself a healthy kind of treat. A massage, healthier treats like dark chocolate/dates/yogurt bowls, and meditation instead of drugs.

Moon in Gemini - Jan 9-11: Following the pleasure seeking of Taurus we should feel rejuvenated; either from good rest or a smoke break. These Moons offer a nervous energy that seeks stimulation. Social interaction or exploration, Gemini energy doesn’t need to have too much of a plan; just a message— an intention.

Moon in Cancer - Jan 11-12: After we’ve sought exploration the Moon comes back home to Cancer and will shed the accumulated energy. Like with this sign marking the transition to Summer, a young plant will begin to shed casings from its initial growth in Spring. Seed shells, bud husks, or old leaves. These Moons are often sleepy and elevated in sensitivity. If you can take it easy, do so.

Last week many major transits came to a close. Some we will revisit still like the final Saturn Jupiter square. So something has broken through and we are onto next steps, though still in the same situation. New energies come into play which allow for more adaptability, industriousness, and practicality.

The key for this week is to preserve your energy. Like I’ve said, Mars moving into Cancer is a difficult place for Mars. The sublimation of our energy will be at the whims of our mood. Given the nature of being human we can’t expect this will line up nicely.

There is a difference between kinds of energy. For instance, being refreshed and ready to take on the day versus having lots of nervous energy. We want to use up our nervous energy on things like exercise which don’t take much more than good form so we can apply our physical energy toward our duty and taking on the day.

Touching back on the Venus-Saturn cycle, I would like you to consider how your lifestyle can help you regulate the use of your energy, because Mars in Cancer is going to show you where you can become more volatile.
